UPDATE ON OUR WORK

upgrades,  Expansion,
Hurricane OTis, Education for kids. ANd more!

PROJECT IS SCHEDULED FOR COMPLETION IN 2027

Our portable off-grid water filtering system was able to provide hundreds of liters of clean drinking water for many local people in Acapulco during the Hurricane Otis/grid-down disaster.  Also, a destitute local family (who live adjacent to our work), was able to use our water cistern for water storage during this terrible emergency.  Thank you all for helping us prepare a bit for this disaster!  Now, in the next emergency, we will be able to do even more!  We have learned some lessons and now we are more prepared.  Special thanks to Jim Lehner and Celia A for helping us grow our systems and secure continual off-grid water flow in the future.

A message to everyone who

has donated their time, labor, and resources.  THANK YOU!  It is because of  you that we have made it to this point in developing the 6 principles and working with the local community here in Acapulco.  Every little bit helped push the work and concepts forward.

Everything has been beneficial and

necessary to get us to where we are now.

We now have help from incredible professionals in the world of permaculture, art, and more.  Emma Garrard is a renowned visual artist who has offered to help with design work.  James Fry is an established figure in the permaculture world who has offered his knowledge and expertise on this project.

There are many more to be announced in the near future!

OUR EARTHSHIP-INSPIRED WORK IN 2024

Great news!  We were blessed with the opportunity to expand and upgrade our project on a new and more suitable site.  We are expanding the Earthship’s 6 principles on a new and better location.  We now have triple the amount of space and in a better location.  The original site had some difficulties, particularly with flooding.  However, difficulties always happen with this type of complicated endeavor. I recommend watching the documentary 'Garbage Warrior'.  It shows the type of patience and willpower needed to finish a project this difficult.

Also, Hurricane Otis caused severe damage to our expansion effort. This damage has set us back significantly.  It was a category 5 Hurricane with sustained winds of 165 mph and catastrophic damage to Acapulco and has set back our work.  Yet still, we press on.

I just want to reassure everyone who helped out that we still have our important materials and concepts that we have been developing. Everything is still thriving on our new land.  The project is alive and well on a more advantageous piece of land.

Our new land is more suitable in many regards.  For example, we now have more space for several more and larger botanical cells for growing more organic food.  We have 4 (almost 5) of the six principles already flowing on the site (off grid water and energy is flowing, some organic food is growing, repurposed building material is being used, and we are ready to begin off-grid sewage treatment).  We are deliberately moving slow in the name of quality control.  More details will be announced in the near future.

We are back full on now!

Thank you for your patience and support.  We have had many challenging setbacks, as well as exciting new opportunities.  The work of decentralization is pressing on.

I will finish off with a quote that sums up so much about what we are doing in regards to the path we are on.

“There are only two mistakes on the path to truth.  Not starting, and not going all the way.” -Buddha-

It is in this spirit that I am proud to say that all is well and good on this Earthship adventure!  I will update you again soon.

There are several reasons why we are moving slow.  There is some adjacent construction work going on in our southern direction.  In order to have a direct line of site from our solar panels to the sun's path in the southern sky, we will wait until this other construction is finished until we do the solar.

Also, the blackwater sewage treatment needs to be done perfectly, or else there will be serious problems.  We are slowly developing our off grid blackwater botanical cell and it takes time.

We have been teaching these concepts to young people along the way.

We will hopefully have occupancy at some point in 2027.  That will be the sixth year of our project of developing the six principles.   We are on track to completing all of our commitments.

The damage done by Hurricane Otis has set us back. We need to adapt to these strange, some say 'weaponized', weather patterns.

The initial rental will be a semi-grid tied eco home.  We will slowly turn it into a full on Earthship as time goes by. We will focus on one of the six principles each year.

Alternatively, we might also be able to achieve the 6 principles in separate and decentralized locations.  We can donate the  profits from this work to a local charity instead of Air BNB money.

This whole project is experimental and in beta phase.  We have many different options for completing it.  We are also considering doing the 6 principles individually in different locations.  We are going to be flexible with how and where we achieve our goals.
